Last week, over 150 people attended the Greater Halifax Partnership's Annual General Meeting. The weather was perfect for the outdoor venue at the Four Points Sheraton.
As staff, investors, partners, board members and friends enjoyed lunch, they listened to what has been happening at the Partnership in the past year and got a sneak peak at the year ahead. It was also where they listened to Stephen Dempsey's last address as President and CEO.
The formal order of business for the meeting went as follows:
- Approval of the Greater Halifax Partnership's Financial Statements
- Chuck Hartlen replaced Karen Oldfield as member of the Board of Directors
- Chris Huskilson ended his term as Chair and Dr. Colin Dodds is now the new Chair
Chris Huskilson stepped down after 2 years as the Partnership's Chair of the Board of Directors and praised Halifax for how it has moved forward and weathered the economic climate. Dr. Colin Dodds took over as the incoming chair saying, "success here means success in the whole region. I look forward to this new chapter of economic growth."
Attendees were in-formally introduced to Paul Kent, who will taking over his duties as President and CEO on October 19th.
Overall, the event was a success as it is always wonderful to network with our investors, partners and members of the community. As Stephen Dempsey said in closing the AGM, "we only get things done if we work in partnerships."
