Hi,

I hate to rain on Mr. Fleming's parade re. 'Halifax impresses economic experts,' but how much of the economy is really growth from private industry and innovation, versus the largesse of federal government spending (sourced from taxpayer dollars), to say nothing of provincial funds (also sources from taxpayers) that support large educational institutions and medical complexes around the city?

The city may have low employment, but it is quickly hitting the wall with an aging workforce and an aging demographic (who will soon be paying lower taxes due to lower incomes). It may feel good to receive positive news, but often the real truths are found under the surface. Ask any fishermen in good weather!

Sincerely,
Leo J. Deveau
